Kristoffer Gansing is artistic director of transmediale, festival for art and digital culture in Berlin, which enjoyed record attendance earlier this year. For the past 15 years he has worked as a cultural producer, artist and media researcher at the intersection of film, net culture and urbanism. In his work he examines the wide-ranging implications of digital culture today. In a society dominated by algorhythms, in which our data is constantly compiled, everything can be quantified, measuring our performance in every aspect of life. Smart cities are becoming increasingly networked and efficient, and we continuously optimizing our productivity? Reach your goal! Faster!
Gansing was an editorial board member of artist-run channel tv-tv in Copenhagen. He taught theory and practice of new media at K3, School of Arts and Communication, Malmö University. In 2013 he completed his PhD thesis, entitled “Transversal Media Practices”, a study dealing with media archaeology, art and technological development.
