Brash, room-filling installations bridging art, design, music, and happenings – the works of TOBIAS REHBERGER exude a sense of magic with multiple layers of meaning. He had guards at the Venice Biennale wear underwear he designed. He produced seating using 3D printers – featuring colourful plastic heads of Lenin, Mao, Donald Trump, and Nelson Mandela, illuminated by a floor lamp shaped like an atomic mushroom cloud. He animates spaces with wallpaper, dazzle patterns, lights, neon sculptures, and more. Born in Swabia and based in Frankfurt, Rehberger was widely acclaimed as a shooting star on the German art scene and won numerous awards, including the Golden Lion at the 53rd Venice Art Biennale.
