The international Architecture Matters conference takes place from 2 p.m. in the Munich technical center. Young, aspiring architects will join prominent guests from architecture, politics, culture and society to discuss hot topics, inspiring projects and promising developments. It’s about projects and positions born out of necessity. About passion, relevance, and shaping the economic rules at work within cities – going beyond slick façades, formal attitudes and an architectural discourse driven by purely Western perspectives.
The conference includes the special format of the “Munich Session”, a roundtable discussion that addresses an urban issue related to the Bavarian Capital. In 2017, the spotlight shines on the development of the Munich “Werksviertel”, including the new concert hall, for which an architecture competition is currently underway.
Nadin Heinich, initiator of the conference, will moderate the day’s events and introduce the following speakers: Kiril Ass – Alexander Brodsky Studio, Ayzit Bostan – Artist, Emanuel Christ – Christ & Gantenbein, Johannes Ernst – Steidle Architekten, Stefan F. Höglmaier – Euroboden Gruppe, Freek Persyn – Büros 51N4E, Patrik Schumacher – Zaha Hadid Architects, Jörn Walter – former Chief Planning Director of Hamburg, Joanna Warsza – Artist, Liam Young – Tomorrow’s Thoughts Today
