For months, the amendment to the Buildings Energy Act – commonly referred to as the Heating Act – has been a prominent topic in the media. Starting in 2024, its mandate requires all newly installed heating systems to operate with at least 65 percent renewable energy. However, just before the summer break, Germany’s Constitutional Court temporarily halted the amendment. What do practitioners think about the ongoing debate? MARCO GOETZKE is a young entrepreneur and owner of TEMPERATURWERK, a startup specializing in modern heating technology installation and maintenance. Recently, he was visited by German Minister of Economic Affairs Robert Habeck during his summer tour.
