China is one of Bavaria’s most important trading partners. The EU has just decided to impose punitive tariffs on electric cars from China – also as a signal for other markets: wind turbines, steel or medical products. What does this mean for future developments?

ASTRID FREYEISEN is Head of the Economics and Social Affairs department at BR. She was the ARD correspondent in Shanghai from 2005 to 2011. She continues to focus on China’s economy. She provides insights into a country where the economy has long had to take a back seat to zero Covid policies and national security, where not only property companies have faltered and where weak domestic demand combined with fierce competition has led to the build-up of huge overcapacities that are now flooding the global market. An evening about the Bavarian economy from a global perspective, de-risking in strategically important areas, new opportunities and international competitiveness.

Moderator: Nadin Heinich
